DNS Exercise Course for Yoga Specific Rehabilitation. This specific DNS course is available as a Part 1, Part 1 & 2 (3 days) , or Part 1-4 (6 days) as a package deal.
About Event
DNS Yoga 1:
Demonstrate the foundations of the basic principles of physiological movement through functional joint centration and their applications in asana practice.
Explore feet and hand support relationships, principles of skeletal symmetry, muscle balance/imbalance.
Demonstrate functional joint centration during static and dynamic loading.
Demonstrate working in open and closed kinetic chains.
Correcting dysfunctional patterns with coordinated co-contraction of antagonists.
Demonstrate an understanding of indications, contraindications, and modifications for patients.
Practicing variations of Pranayama.
DNS Yoga 2:
Foot mobilisations in supporting function.
Isolated movement patterns of the hip in unloaded positions.
Flow Class.
Isolated movement patterns of the hip in loaded positions.
Rehabilitation Applications.
Transitions in yoga asanas, linking developmental ontogenisis for hip mobility and stability.
Pranayama-Role of the lower abdominal wall.
Movement patterns of hip joint in differentiated and undifferentiated seated positions.
Muscle pulls relating to actions of the hip.
Isolated Hip Extension in yoga asanas.
Flow Class – review of movement patterns of the hip for mobility and stability.
Rehabilitative perspective of Pranayama.
DNS Yoga 3:
Upper extremity and shoulder girdle function, kinesiology and muscle synergy
Shoulder girdle disorders, including muscle imbalances and common yoga injuries
Isolated movement patterns of the shoulder in loaded positions – closed kinetic chains
Isolated movement patterns of the shoulder in unloaded positions – open kinetic chains
Muscle synkinesis required for joint centration of shoulder/ shoulder girdle, in asanas
Linking developmental ontogenesis to asana transitions, to improve shoulder mobility and stability
Shoulder girdle function and kinesiology in basic inversions
The role of breathing and pranayama in shoulder girdle function and dysfunction
The use of pranayama in shoulder girdle rehabilitation
Flow class – review of movement patterns of shoulder / shoulder girdle for mobility and stability
DNS Yoga 4:
The foundations of physiological movement and application to asana practice.
Function, kinesiology, load transfer and muscle synkinesis of the spine
Spinal disorders, including muscle imbalances and common yoga injuries of the spine
Importance of diaphragm and pelvic floor function in spinal stability and relationship to activation of bandhas in asanas
Isolated movement patterns of the shoulder and hip girdle
Isolated movement of spinal segments and influence on spinal mobility
Kinesiology of the spine in flexion, extension and rotation asanas
Synkinesis of the muscles around the spine and the influence of open and closed kinetic chains
Linking developmental ontogenesis to asana transitions, to improve spinal mobility and stability
Load transfer in inversion asanas
Kinesiology of the ribcage and biomechanics of respiration, from a spinal rehabilitation perspective.
